"First Inspection" Successful! The World's Tallest Bridge Officially Launches Load Test
On the morning of August 21st, Huajiang Gorge Bridge, the world's tallest bridge, officially launched the load test, ushering in the first "physical examination" before it opens to traffic.
At the test site, 18 trucks with a total load of 630 tons drove onto the bridge in 3 batches, parking respectively at the pre-designated positions of 1/4, 3/8 and 1/2 of the main span. 15 test working conditions were arranged, and more than 400 sensors were installed to comprehensively detect the deformation and stress of the bridge's main tower, main beam and main cable under static load.
The load test is a key link to verify the structural safety and bearing capacity of the bridge before it opens to traffic, and is also known as the "full-body physical examination" of the bridge. The load test of Huajiang Gorge Bridge this time is divided into three stages: no-load test, static load test and dynamic load test, and the whole process will last 4 days.
